Hello, Darkness My Old Friend

Hello, Darkness my old friend

I’ve come to talk to you again.

You used to numb me like novocaine

You used to be my oxygen

In your company I breathe, I shine, I flourish.

Me, myself and you (darkness) alone in you.

You showed me the deepest secrets of you.

How to be alone with my thoughts & you.

Have a good conversation with my self & you…

Bare my bones & lay my feeling out to you.

Think out loud in the depth of my despair alone with you…

Be a man in my own tiny little world you’re a neighbour in..

Fool myself as many times as the faces of the dice.

And when I sob you quench your thirst with my tears.

You giggle at me when I look away.

You make jokes about me when I’m not there.

Stabbing me in the back, Oh dear!

I’m wild now. I hope you know.

I found light in another you do not own.

My searchlight, my lighthouse, my all

My heart, my saviour, my love…

And as I dance In the light I hope you see me.

I found love with the one that glows

I found joy In a land you cannot sow.

I found light after you had me whole.

Good night! darkness my old friend.
