Life is a ferry tale

Time is a ferry ⛴️

The world is it’s sea 🌊

And we’re mere passengers ⛴️

Drifting from birth to death ⚰️

Days of plain sailβ›΅

Days of storm β›ˆοΈ

Days some fall victim to the ferocious beasts of the ocean πŸŒ€

Or the days pirates cart away our carriage πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ

Days the kraken visits, and lays wreck in it’s wake πŸ™

Days the ship gave, rocking under the turbulent waves 🌊 of the ocean

And we fight to mend the leaks 🚱

Scared to house water in our lungs 😰

For the fear of death? ⚱️

But death is the destination! πŸ›¬

Why do we fight it? πŸ₯Š

For the journey, brief or protracted, is certain of a destination πŸ›¬

Aboard or ashore, the fate (destination) is fatal ☠️

The uncertainty of the hereafter is what humbles πŸ›Ά

  1. It’s a nice piece. I just saw a patient with metastatic bone cancer who’s fighting so hard to survive.

He’s had one (above knee) amputation already

And they’re talking about another amputation.

The patient doesn’t have money anymore.

It felt so bad that I just didn’t know what to even think.

    And then comes your *poem*

    Thank you.

    1. That’s sad. I hope he gets help from others, & courage to fight on. It’s not over.

Devastating ailments roam this world, & latch on humans like leeches when they get their chance, robbing us of health & all that comes with it.

A million thanks for this reflection.

      See you around 🀝🏾

    It was perfectly splendid.
I especially liked the β€œwhy do we fight it” bit.
Why indeed? Humans struggle with the fact that our fate isn’t entirely under our control. Try as we might, it’s an undeniable & unchanging fact but we still struggle & challenge fate.
Why do we fight it? Is it out of sheer stubbornness, being in denial regarding the inevitable, or is it simply because challenging fate gives a certain sense of control even if that sense is just a figment invented by the mind to provide relief (albeit fleeting)..
    Why indeed.

    Nice piece boss!
